Most people say that today it takes live shows or word of mouth to win them over.
Most MySpace addicts are so oblivious to the hundreds of thousands of bands trying to add them everyday that they don’t even give a listen anymore unless someone sends a message. MySpace is a great way for bands that share a gig and like each other to stay in touch, or to share new songs with friends and fans already established. MySpace was a great tool when it first came out for promotion, but it’s become so oversaturated that it is no longer really a valuable tool for initial promotion without some sort of driving force to draw attention to it; and it cannot be an advertisement or some poor excuse for a thinly veiled word-of-mouth campaign.
It must be authentic!

The promotion and burying of music is managed by an algorithm developed by MogulTunes. There is no hard number of votes/buries to promote or remove a song. It's based on a sliding scale that takes several factors into consideration, such as number of votes, reports, time of day, genre submitted to, voting/burying diversity, etc.
-
This is evidence of our promotion algorithm hard at work. One of the keys to getting a song promoted is diversity in voting activity. Until the algorithm gets the diversity it needs of users voting on the story, it will remain in the Upcoming section. That way, the system knows a variety of people will be into the song.
-
We don't display who buried songs as we're concerned about fomenting user wars. What you bury is your own personal decision — our math will take care of the rest. Also, users feel uncomfortable sharing negative actions with others. We like to focus on the positive!
-
If you change your mind about a vote or accidentally vote for the wrong song, you can un-vote any song at any time within your profile. Just view your voting history, find the song that you want to remove, and then click "un-vote." Note, un-voting a song does not mean that the song is removed or the song has been buried. Un-voting a story removes it only from your profile.
-
Your song likely got buried by other users. Not all songs resonate with the community. It's neither you nor us who decides what is and what is not good music. That's up for the entire MogulTunes community to decide whether to vote for your song or bury it.
-
We don't release information about our algorithm to help prevent gaming, abuse, spam, etc.

The Cloud View is an alternate way to view upcoming submissions. (The default view is the Story View.) Like traditional heat maps, Cloud View gives an organized depiction of songs in a chronological fashion. Newer songs live near the top; older songs are found near the bottom. As a song gains votes, its song title increases in font size. And when a friend of yours has voted on a particular song, the song title appears in green.
